Upon Receipt Of Your Plants

Open your plants, and inspect the same day received. You need to report any problems with your order within 3 days. Plant promptly - bare root plants need to be planted within 2-3 days unless there are weather issues. Keep roots moist and covered with plastic until they can be planted, and store in a cool place. Water daily for the first week after planting.

Southern Yellow Pine Seedlings are a Robust and Hardy Lawn and Border Tree

Southern Yellow Pine Seedlings found along the east coast in zones 7-9;  It is native from North Carolina down into Florida and Louisiana. They prefer sandy soil with good drainage. The Southern Yellow Pine Seedlings can be grown in full sun, partial shade, or full shade. They start with a prolonged growth rate for the first 12 years but then multiply after that. They can reach a height of 80 feet with a width of up to 100 feet. It can take 100-150 years to grow to its full height.

 The bark of the Southern Yellow Pine Seedlings is deep red with scaly, rough patches. The trunk grows thick and straight. This tree grows thin, green needles that can reach a length of 8”-15” long that are often twisted and grow in bundles of 3. The needles are sometimes clipped off and used for Christmas decorations. It will produce cones that can be up to 12” long and will stay on the tree for up to 20 years. New seedlings do not look like trees. Instead, they look more like a dark green patch of needles. This stage referred to as the “grass stage.” At this stage in its development, it can attract feral pigs. It can take between 5-12 years for the Southern Yellow Pine Seedlings to leave this stage.

It can be used as a background tree in landscaping, as well as a windbreak. It is often harvested for its timber, which is used primarily in the construction of new homes.
