Product Description

Persimmon Tree grow in zones 4 through 9

The persimmon tree grows in many states in the United States. Some of the states it grows in are Connecticut, Texas, Iowa, and Texas. They grow in hardiness zones 4 to 9. It can stand temperatures as low as 32 degrees.

The Asian persimmon tree is grown in nurseries in the US and tolerates temperatures as low as zero. It is another variety of the persimmon tree and is only grown by specialty growers. There are several ways to grow persimmon trees by seed, grafting, or cutting the suckers. The American persimmon trees require both male and female trees in some varieties to produce fruit, and some are self-seeding. At the same time, the Asian persimmon is self-seeding.

The soil they are planted in should have a ph level of 6.5 to 7.5. Soil should be well-drained and the location in a sunny spot. Dig a bottomless hole as this tree has deep roots. Fill the hole with soil and loam at the bottom than the rest native soil and loam.

Persimmon Tree requires very little care

Once in the ground, you should water regularly until established. Keep them watered in periods of little rain. Do not fertilize them unless they seem not to be growing well. Remember that to grow fruit. Some American persimmon trees need male and female trees. Today there are varieties of American persimmon that are self-seeding.

These trees are sensitive to temperatures that go lower than 10 degrees. That will damage their sensitive buds. They do not grow well in hot desert conditions; You should plant the trees at least 20 feet apart. They often grow 20 to 30 feet high. When planting one from a nursery, cut down to three feet and prune regularly. Fertilize in February and March.

The American Persimmon is an attractive tree that needs little care. They are grown for ornamental reasons and their tasty fruit.
