Dutchman Breeches is native to the United States, and most populations occur in the country’s eastern half. Some communities, however, can be found in the Pacific Northwest. Dutchman Breeches generally blooms in the early spring, from March to April. It can grow in just about any type of light, from the sun to shade. It does best in moist soils that are neutral or mildly acidic. It grows best in soils that resemble hummus, but it can tolerate limestone.
