Most gardens and farms need fences to mark out boundaries and provide the best ways of marking different areas. A common problem faced by millions of property owners in recent years has been that of their choice of fencing decaying over time as the various options available explored. Throughout history, the role of the living fence has developed as a great way of providing a long-lasting, environmentally-friendly approach to fence installation.
There are many different reasons why the use of a living fence is a positive one, including the fact the majority of mass-produced fencing options
produced with various chemicals and bonding agents. These chemicals can cause issues with soil quality where planting living fencing can have a positive effect on the quality of the soil in any area. Planting living fence trees can be done with ease and tends to include the break down of leaves and hairs which break down in the soil to provide natural nutrition for the land.
In the U.K., planting living fence trees is a traditional way of marking the boundaries between different properties and fields. One of the main advantages the British farmers and gardeners have found is the fact the number of local animals living in their living fences has grown. By planting living trees, the biodiversity of an area can increase with U.S. property owners reporting a rise in the number of insects, snakes, birds, and spiders which have a positive impact on pest control.
The control of pests is just one of the reasons why many property owners are looking to use an existing fence while others have spotted the advantages they provide in a multipurpose area. When looking to provide fencing for a field containing livestock, a wire of woven fence is a suitable option. However, if the purpose of the wall changes over time, it will lead to a change needed in the fencing is used. By finding a high-quality tree to use as the basis of a hedgerow, the property owner will rarely face the issue of needing to change the existing plant fence if a new option is within the property line.
In exposed areas of the world, one of the best options for providing some shelter from the elements for your garden is a living plant fence. Not only does a residing fence tree gently protect the plants and animals within from wind and rain, but they can filter out a large number of seeds from invasive plants from reaching the interior of the fenced area. Cutting down on weeds is the first step towards limiting the amount of time spent on maintenance of any property.
