Botanical Latin Name: Hedwidia Ciliata
Sun Exposure: Prefers moderate sunlight
Hardiness Zones: North America USA
Mature Height: Groundcover, spreads outward not upward.
Spread: Moss spreads over pavements, walls, and ledges. Moss spreads outward, not upward, it is more of a groundcover.
Spacing: Transplant two to three inches apart for an even coverage.
Growth Rate: Rapid growth if frequently watered and well cared for. Growing will be stunted as well as some spotty areas may occur if proper care isn’t taken and moss is left to mother natures care, however it will still grow without maintenance if you live in a moist enough climate.
Flowering Time: This plant has no flower; it is a non-flowering moss that works mostly as a ground cover.
Soil Requirements: Can grow in most terrains, including pavement, roofs, sidewalks and even walls as well as in dirt, bark chips, or forest floors. Makes a great green roof.
Pruning: Grows outward not upward. If moss begins to look scraggly trimming can be done to get desired look, however regular pruning is unnecessary.
Flower Form: No flower, a plush green moss with long “arm” looking limbs that stretch outward and give a wool carpet look. Limbs could also make it look coral like.
