We dig plants when your order is received, and ship immediately via US Priority Mail. You will receive a tracking number via email when plants are shipped. All plants are packed to be safe in their packages for up to 3 days after receipt.

How We Protect Your Plants For Transit

We sell only bare root plants. For superior protection for plants in transit, we dip the roots in tera-sorb silicone gel to retain ample moisture for transit and surround with plastic.

Upon Receipt Of Your Plants

Open your plants, and inspect the same day received. You need to report any problems with your order within 3 days. Plant promptly - bare root plants need to be planted within 2-3 days unless there are weather issues. Keep roots moist and covered with plastic until they can be planted, and store in a cool place. Water daily for the first week after planting.

Dutchman's Breeches is a Flowering Herbaceous Perennial

Dutchman Breeches – Dicentra cucullaria. Dutchman Breeches is a perennial herbaceous plant that owes its common name to its white or pink flowers that resemble little breeches hanging upside down. Dutchman Breeches is native to the United States, and most populations occur in the eastern half of the country. Some communities, however, can be found in the Pacific Northwest. Dutchman Breeches generally blooms in the early spring, from March to April. It can grow in just about any type of light from the sun to shade. It does best in moist soils that are neutral or mildly acidic. It grows best in soils that resemble hummus, but it can tolerate limestone.

Dutchman's Breeches makes an Excellent Color Addition to your Flower Garden

It will flower in April or May depending on the climate. The upside-down flowers that hang from stems look like Dutchman's Breeches or trousers that were commonly worn by the Dutch. Dutchman's Breeches flowers are pale white on the inside and pale yellow on the outside. The flowers will attract bees and even butterflies to your garden. Its foliage is also attractive and looks grayish green. The Dutchman's breeches plant makes an excellent addition to flower gardens because of its unique flower shape and pale-yellow color. It is a low plant with attractive foliage as well that will look good around surrounding other flowers. 

 

They will have small white and pink colored flowers. This wildflower is one that will not grow a lot during the summer months and will go dormant. Dutchman's Breeches will thrive in moist and well-drained soils. This plant is tolerant of clay and rabbits. It can have white or pink blooms. Dutchman's Breeches has a blooming time through March. It is vulnerable to aphid infestation; This plant grows best in partial to full sun; Dutchman's Breeches is the same type as a bleeding heart. Dutchman's Breeches is a native plant to Nova Scotia and can also be found growing in North Carolina. This plant will grow great in soil that has medium moisture and well-drained soils. Dutchman's Breeches will bloom and will have long stems with white/pinkish blooms, and the flowers will resemble pantaloons. This plant can be found growing around streams, woodland areas, and valleys.
