The Beautiful White Althea is a very long and blooming deciduous shrub.

White Althea, also known as the Rose of Sharon, is a beautiful delicate peony-like flower that is native to India and China, although now widely cultivated throughout the world.  It has been known to grow from approximately 6-10 feet tall and close to half as wide. The shrub itself is characterized by having very shiny dark leaves, while the flowers may be single or double and may come in white, pink, blue, or purple. Though White Althea is a durable at vigorous shrub that can grow in many soil types, it does prefer a deeper, fertile and well-drained environment, with good soil quality. If the soil quality is not good, fertilizing is acceptable. This shrub must be cut back in springtime to control its size and help with larger blooming. White Althea benefits from full sunlight, however in very hot climates will need some afternoon shade. It needs an average amount of water.
