All plants ships from our warehouses in Tennessee. All plants are grown and shipped from out Altamont (zip) 37301 location. We do drop ship for re-sellers also for those wanting to resell our plants.
How We Protect Your Plants For Transit
All plants are dug and immediately taken to our warehouse and tera-sorb moisture retention gel is applied to the roots and then wrapped in plastic to retain superior moisture for transit. They are placed in corogated cardboard shipping boxes for protection when shipped
Upon Receipt Of Your Plants
Upon receipt of your plants, unpack and unwrap the roots and mist with water. Plant within 24-48 hours. If you can not plant within this time frame, put your plants in a cool location (ex- basement, garage or cellar) and water the roots daily. Cover them back up with the plastic so they will not dry out until you can plant them. After planted, water every evening after the sun goes down for 5 days.
Short Leaf Pine Seedlings - Pinus Echinata
The Short Leaf Pine Seedlings has a long, clear trunk that is between .8”-1” thick. Short Leaf Pine Seedlings can be reddish, yellowish-brown or dark brown and will sometimes have tiny, resin pores that can be found dotted along scaly plates. The dark bluish-green needles are thin and flexible with a sharp point. The measure between 3”-5” long and grow in bundles of 2 or 3. The twigs of the Short Leaf Pine Seedlings and rough and brittle and are usually covered with a white coating. This tree will produce brown cones that hang down in clusters of 1-3. They are 1 ½” – 2 1/2 “ long and shaped like a small egg. The short Leaf Pine will grow to be about 120’ tall with a trunk diameter of just 1 ½’ – 2’ around. They are often used as an ornamental tree. The Short Leaf Pine can grow from Southern New York down to Northern Florida and as far west as Texas. They can adapt to many different soil types. However, they do best in well-drained soil with either a silty or sandy loam texture. They are often used for wood pulp, plywood veneer, and lumber. They attract a wide variety of wildlife such as quail, doves, cottontail rabbits, songbirds, and deer.

In the scientific world, this tree is commonly called pinus echinata. In these areas, it can typically be seen in rocky uplands to wet floodplain areas. This tree may grow in different ways. Sometimes it will be straight, and other times it will be crooked and have an irregular crown. This tree will have gorgeous pine needles, and the needles will be rather short in size. The needles grow in bundles of two or three. It will also produce cones that are long. They will thin scales on them with a short prickle. The seedlings will develop a J-shaped crook near the surface of the ground. If the upper stem of this pine is damaged by fire or is cut, it will start to form more buds near the crook which will help initiate growth again. They are a member of the evergreen family.
When it is mature, it can reach a height of about 65-100 ft tall. It can also spread to be around 35 feet wide. The will do amazingly well when planted in full sunlight and will even grow great in areas that are dry. These trees are very drought resistant and are very easy to care for. They will look lovely in climates that receive snow as the snow covers the limbs of the tree. This tree is also commonly used for its use of wood pulp as well as for plywood veneer and lumber.
Pinus echinata, also known as shortleaf pine, one of four types of the Southern yellow pine, is native to the eastern portion of the US. Its habitat ranges over 22 states, running from the south of New York down to Florida, and as far west as Texas and Oklahoma.
