Product Description

Thalictrum thalictroides, Rue Anemone

Rue Anemone is a delicate perennial woodland wildflower that can be cultivated in woodland or shady gardens. Its white or faintly pink flowers are smaller than a quarter with five to nine petals, which are sepals. The bright yellow-greenish stamens in the center seem to be among the longer blooming spring flowers, often for more than a month when weather permits.

As delicate as it looks, this is a sturdy member of the Buttercup (Ranunculaceae) family. Its fibrous roots thrive in small clusters. Rue Anemone spreads on its own by reseeding. Well-drained soil with a slight slope is ideal. Honeybees and wind pollinate this tiny flower. Few animals eat them.

Rue Anemone will be gorgeous when in bloom, it will produce beautiful white flowers that will bring a garden or natural area to life. Rue Anemone will do well in loose, loamy soils and will also like fertile and dry soils. Rue Anemone is a tuberous rooting native perennial that grows under the shade of large trees in moist forests. Rue Anemone was collected by Native Indians that used it medicinally. They made a tea from the roots of the plant that they drank. This was used to treat diarrhea and vomiting. They also ate the slightly poisonous roots for food in small amounts. Rue Anemone is very fuzzy on its stems and its roots.

This plant appears beautiful, delicate, and short-lived flowers, but this is deceptive.
This plant doesn’t have any petals. The leaflets are roundish and have three lobes. Leaflets are found right below the flower as if supporting it. The seeds should be sowed outdoors in the fall or placed in a cold frame. Rue Anemone is an excellent wildflower for gardens because it will not take a lot of care of maintenance. The Rue Anemone provides a homeowner with lots of colors.
