Red Raspberry - Rubus idaeus

Red Raspberry bush has many great features that any homeowner would want. Want yummy, homegrown red raspberries? They are relatively easy to grow, and if cared for properly, these plants are capable of producing fruit for an indefinite period. When growing red raspberries, it is wise to know whether you have a summer-bearer or an ever-bearer. Both of these have their specific growing requirements. You should plant your raspberries during early spring (or in late winter in warm zones). To care for these plants, you must mulch the soil throughout the whole seasons to conserve moisture and destroy weeds. It is essential to water the raspberry plants at least one inch per week. It is also important to prune these plants in the fall. Pruning requirements depend on whether you have a summer- or ever-bearer. By tending carefully to your raspberry plants, you will have a healthy plant that will produce plenty of raspberries for years to come.

They grow in most types of soil but grow best in soil that is slightly acidic to neutral. The plants prefer full sunlight. Individual plants should not be planted near raspberries, to avoid disease. Raspberry plants should not be planted in soil where these plants were grown in the past three years. With being tolerant to pests and deer, these make for easy to grow and little maintaining because they can thrive and grow well without anything harming them.
