Japanese Honeysuckle

The Japanese Honeysuckle is a magnificent flowering vine that is native to Asia, China, Japan, and Korea. These beautiful perennial vines will have the most amazing blooms during the months of late spring until early autumn. The flowers look like little trumpets that are colored white and yellow. These will attract many different species of butterflies, bees, birds, and hummingbirds. It also can grow a small fruit that is almost black and will also attract other types of little wildlife. These vines are very fast growers and will overtake most anything in its path. It is even banned in some states due to its invasive nature. However, if monitored and pruned back, it will be beautiful to enjoy. These vines are very hardy and make super privacy hedges when planted near fences. They have very dense growth. These plants are amazingly tolerant to pests, diseases, and even drought. They are so easy to grow and will do well in urban areas as well as rural. These plants people know them for the medicinal qualities and have been used to treat headaches and sore throats.  They will begin blooming in mid spring and continue until early autumn. Although soils with good drainage, they can adapt quickly to other soil conditions too. As long as moisture and drainage are available, these will grow in most soil types.
