The Foxtail Sedge is a perennial that grows long, thin green leaves and thrives in areas where there are wet conditions like swamps and marshes where roots stay underwater all or most of the time. It is not uncommon to find it in most fields or places that often flood like next to creek beds and streams. This plant likes to stay in the partial shade or full sun and grows best in the middle and northeastern U.S. all the way into Canada. While it does not have a flower, the Foxtail Sedge blooms in July when pollination is most likely.
