Dogwood Trees are a Magnificent Ornamental Tree

Dogwood or "Dogtree" comes from the word "Dagwood." The flower has four white petals with a purple stain to each corner. The center has several small green pea-like pistils. The flowers can also give a red/rosy pink shade to them. Several Dogwood Tree owners have suggested that the branches sound like a barking dog when the wind blows through the branches. These trees are so beautiful; they are used as ornamental trees. When they are adequately taken care of, Dogwood Trees can grow over one foot per year. They are capable of growing from 15 to 70 feet but are more commonly found in 25 to 30 feet. They are more attractive when planted in pairs. An interesting fact about the Dogwood Trees are the Dogwood berries they give out during winter times. These berries will be sure to attract all kinds of birds. The Dogwood Trees enjoy the partial shade, although they are capable of receiving sunlight all day.

Moreover, the Dogwood Trees are tolerant towards droughts, although they do need water now and then during the hot summer days. They can grow in several different climates. They create a beautiful statement to just about any kind of landscape.

These trees are unique any time of year and are so beautiful to work with. These trees are magnificent ornamental trees for anywhere in the landscape, and they look amazing when planted in natural areas. These trees are native to the eastern portion of the United States and are most likely one of the most popular. The bloom on these trees is the state flower for North Carolina. These trees were known for their medicinal qualities and were used by Native Americans frequently. The blossoms on these beautiful trees will begin to appear in spring and last through most of the summer. Each bloom will have four petals that can be white, red, or pink. The foliage is a beautiful medium green that will turn to fabulous colors in the autumn months. Berries will also replace the blooms on these trees. Many birds and a variety of other small wildlife find these berries very tasty. These trees will look remarkable when planted in groups of different colors.
