If you have enough yard and garden space to accommodate a five-foot space between each plant, this will eliminate the need to cut back as they grow continually. Many berry plants can also grow in large containers. The top three berry varieties that grow well in most US zones are the raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry. Be sure to take into consideration the thorns that grow on raspberry and blackberry bushes. Blackberry bushes do best with partial sun and partial shade. Blueberry bushes do best in partial sun, and partial shade and raspberry bushes do best in full sun. If planting young shrubs expect a two year wait time before the shrubs are mature enough to produce fruit.
