Brandy-wine Red Maple is a Hardy Tree Averaging 40-50 Feet Tall with an average 30 Foot Spread

Brandywine Red Maple Tree, which is also commonly referred to as red maple, is hardy throughout USDA Zones 4-8. It is known for its beautiful colors that last approximately two weeks. Beginning the fall with the red leaves and darkening to the beautiful darker red-purple mix. It is a hardy tree that averages 40-50 feet tall with an average 30-foot spread and having an overall oval shape. This variety of maple is often used in parks to provide shade and add color interest. Leaves are medium to dark green on top with a grey-green on the bottom that is 3-5” long with three main triangular lobes with tooth margins. The bark is a lighter grey when the tree is younger, but will darken as the tree ages.

Brandy-wine Red Maple is Often Used in Parks to Provide Shade and add Color Interest

The Brandywine Red Maple is a male tree. Therefore it is considered a seedless tree and will not produce what many people call the helicopter seeds that spin in the wind as they fall from the trees. It prefers slightly acidic soil with damp soil. It grows fast for the first 10-12 years in a sunny location or partial shade, and then the growth rate slows down. It is native throughout parts of Eastern Canada and throughout the United States from Texas to Florida and up the eastern states. Shipping is usually a bare root or potted, depending on the size of the tree ordered.

It is tolerant of most conditions, except where it is too wet and may be subjected to root rot; Considered a problem free tree because it is resistant to diseases or insects, including the leafhopper, which is within other maple species.
