Bracken Ferns spread quickly, and are an attractive addition to any yard, Bracken Ferns are known for their large triangular fronds. Along with being decorative, they can also be useful in giving shade to other vegetation in your yard. Bracken ferns can also be helpful in adding to the decor of a rock garden. While mostly associated with the moors of England, Bracken Ferns can grow successfully in almost any region of the United States. They are also easy to care for and require only minimum shade. Because of their dense nature, Bracken Ferns are sometimes used by small birds for nesting.

 

The bracken fern, or Pteridium, is a rough, large fern that can be found in every climate except deserts. They are native to moors but have proven particularly hardy in many environments outside their natural habitat. Bracken leaves that can have divides several inches long. The leaves are green, arranged in lines, oval-shaped, and end in a single pointed leaf. The fern prefers an area with low vegetation and some moisture.
