Attracting Wildlife

Bringing wildlife to your garden or landscape area is a great way to add even more color and life to the area. One can ensure that you have a multitude and a variety of critters enjoying the area you have built for them. First of all, take a look at the plants that are in your landscape. Adding things like roses, lavender and honeysuckle will bring an array and variety of bees and butterflies to the area that will increase pollination and beauty. You can also create a woodpile if you want which frogs and even rabbits find quite tempting and may even build a little home there. You can watch the rabbits go in and out and make it a part of your daily routine. Adding a patch of wildflowers is another great idea. It will bring native dwellers such as butterflies and birds to your garden area. Take the time to ensure that one is choosing they are appropriate for your climate zone for the best results and maximum traffic. You will also want to make sure that you provide a source of water for the animals and insects to enjoy. You can go as big as making a pond, or you can simply install a fountain. You can also use old basins or bird baths to get the same effect. It will bring anything from dragonflies to frogs and even birds. One will need to change the water regularly to prevent anything from building up or standing that will attract mosquitoes. Hedges are another great idea. These are dense growing and many smaller mammals seek refuge here and will use it as shelter and create their little home to enjoy. Different hedges attract different animals, so try to keep a variety when planting them close together to get the maximum variety of animals visiting your garden or landscape area. Also planting trees and shrubs that offer berries or other fruits will give the wildlife a source of food which will ultimately keep them around. Do not forget to add some feeders in the mix too!
