Product Description

Beige Trillium

Beige Trillium is a plant native to Northern and Central America. The roots are rhizomes. The leaves are called bracts. The way in which the blossoms are connected to the bracts determines whether the plant is pedicellate or sessile. The three petaled blooms will be beige or off white in color. Keep in mind there are a variety of trillium species and they very in color and fragrance. If you are looking to attract a variety of butterflies to your garden Beige Trillium would be a perfect addition as they will be attracted by the appealing fragrance. Trillium will also attract a variety of other wildlife including deer, squirrel, and a large variety of birds. This herb can grow to around two feet tall. Soil conditions should be moist but well drained with full to partially shaded sunlight. As a perennial you can expect beautiful blooms to return every April lasting until June. It could be two seasons before you see blooms though so be patient. These plants lay dormant during late summer and early fall, this is the best time to propagate by dividing. There is very little to worry about in the way of disease or pest, but deer enjoy snacking on them.

The early Native Americans valued this plant for food as well as its medicinal properties. Beige Trillium can be used as an antiseptic as well as a diuretic. The roots can also be used, when smashed and made into a salve it can relieve swelling and joint pain. The varieties of the Trillium species can also differ in their medicinal properties. Be sure to get the one that is right for you. Different ones will attract different pollinators as well.
